When Marion conducted a community visioning process called Imagine8, expansion of the current library was identified as one of the eight most important projects needed to realize the future of Marion as one of Iowa’s fastest growing cities. Last year, the Board of Trustees created a committee that included representatives from the Board and the community to identify current building issues and features most needed in a new library. Request for Qualifications (RFQ)

The Request for Qualifications (RFQ) asks Development Teams to offer us a vision of a mixed-use library facility that would include residential and retail components. We want to make sure they have the skills, personnel, and resources to do the job as well as the capital required for the investment. Our goal is to determine the feasibility of a project that will provide Marion with a library expansion, reduce library construction costs, grow Marion’s property tax base, and contribute to our community’s economic development.
