Friends of the Library

Friends Logo1

The Friends of the Marion Public Library is a citizen volunteer organization that promotes the use of the library and provides financial assistance for various purchases and programs.

The Friends operate a used bookstore, sponsor semi-annual book sales, and provide the Friends Home Books Program for homebound patrons. Funds from the bookstore and sale are used to support reading and speaker programs, purchase special equipment and information resources, sponsor author visits, and help with other special projects.

Do your Amazon shopping through the Friends of the Marion Library Smile link, and Amazon will donate a percentage of your sale to our Friends group! It costs you nothing. Select Friends of the Marion Carnegie Library as your charity, or click on the link provided here.

Want to Donate Materials to the Friends of the Library?

The Friends of the Marion Library gratefully accept donations of your gently used books, magazines, CDs, and DVDs to be sold at our bookstore and semi-annual book sale. We cannot accept more than two boxes at a time. For larger donations, please contact Marlys at Drop off donations at the Check Out Desk. All proceeds support the Marion Public Library.
We accept:
Fiction – paperback and hardcover
Nonfiction – paperback and hardcover
Children’s books
DVDs and CDs
Books on CD
Weekly Magazines – up to 3 months old
Monthly Magazine - up to 6 months old
We cannot accept:
Audiocassettes or VHS
Outdated Computer books or software
Professional journals
Odds and ends – including calendars, personal journals, outdated medical and financial resources
Please use your best judgement about donating things that are not in good condition. If you would not purchase it, it's likely no one else will either, and we will have to recycle your donation. Save our volunteers that extra work and recycle rather than donating outdated items and things in poor condition. A receipt for your donation is available upon request; donations are tax-deductible.
All proceeds support the Marion Public Library. Thank you for supporting your local library.
